Health & Wellness Hub For The Trucking Community

About Us

The age old saying “If you got it, a trucker brought it” is a vivid reminder that truckers are a linchpin in the American economy. Yet most are the unsung heroes that receive little respect from the majority of the population. You work long hours, are away from your families regularly, and hardly anyone offers services that are catered to your needs. That includes healthcare and wellness.

Truck Driver Health Statistics Overview (2023)

  • Truck drivers are twice as likely to develop diabetes compared to the general working population.
  • The average morbidity rate for a truck driver is 61 years old as compared to the average non trucker morbidity of 76.
  • Around 80% of truck drivers have at least one serious health condition.
  • Truck drivers have a 50% increased risk of developing heart disease.
  • 68% of long-haul truck drivers are not engaged in sufficient physical activity.
  • 38% of commercial truck drivers reported feeling sleepy or fatigued at the wheel.
  • Long-haul truck drivers have a 90% higher smoking prevalence than the general population.
  • In the United States, around 22% of truck drivers report being diagnosed with depression.
  • Long-haul truck drivers in the U.S. average just 4.78 hours of sleep per 24-hour period.

These issues not only are concerning for the driver, but they affect a trucking company’s bottom line. When a driver is sick, they need to be transported home for medical care, costing the company thousands of dollars in travel, medical and lost work time. Just a down day can cost $200 or more per driver. And the risk of accidents when a driver is tired, depressed, or has a medical issue that causes him to lose control of their truck can cost a company millions.

It’s very clear that the trucking lifestyle has lasting effects on your health. Prevention as well as symptom monitoring, support, and medical care in a way that integrates with your normal routine is something that currently is not available, but necessary to keep America running.

The Trucker’s Health Network is here to address those issues, and to assemble programs and support to the Trucking community so you can continue to focus on your career without your health getting in the way. Become a member, and let us support your health and wellbeing outside of your high deductible rigid health insurance coverage.
